The four semi-detached units with garden are located in Via Castelli Della Vinca in Livorno, a residential area overlooking the city and the hill, near to the funicular leading to Montenero and its sanctuary. Again, as with other residential interventions carried out on that hill from the designers, the goal was to capture the view of the landscape. This means to propose contemporary solutions that could combine sobriety and modernity.
The presence of the garden has been another important element in the definition of volume design and of space distribution. Each of the units-which adopts flat roofs and follows the slope of the land-juts out into the green through the terraces. They are projected outside the living space and designed to experience nature and to ensure the view towards both the hill and the city. The structures are plastered in white and combined in some parts with Santafiora stone cladding to recall the colour of the soil. Structural finishing of the terraces is made of white painted iron.
