REBIRTH OF A LOST IDENTITY

The work on the villa in Roccamare, along the Tuscan coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the homonymous pinewood, aimed at mitigating the disharmony caused by repeated and chaotic restructuring. This also meant to rethink the living areas in the garden with the help of the landscape architect Niccolo Grassi.

Because of the large garden, one of the project objectives has been to highlight the relationship between inside and outside, so that the landscape could become an integral part of the house. Life in the garden and by the pool, in fact, should result in a further living experience. Hence the choice to implement some fully glazed and sliding openings to allow a constant dialogue between the green, the sea and the villa. The facades have been cleared by most of the superfluous decorations and a terrace with sea view has been built at the higher floor.

As per request of the customer, the project of the interiors focused on the reorganization of the living areas in favour of hospitality. These living areas are concentrated on the higher floor and have been redesigned in order to capture as much as possible the views of the garden and sea. They become like large eyes on the outside and at the same time they favour a physical and visual fluidity between outdoor and indoor spaces. The large kitchen and the office area have been completely renovated and made to measure again to give greater value to the living areas.

To witness the origins of the house built in the sixties there was -and there is still today- a grit floor of good quality. It is from this memory that the villa redevelopment proceeded with the intention of recovering a lost identity adopting, among other things, antique furniture, materials and colours that allude to the taste of that period.
